Sunrise Animation Studios

The Challenge

Sunrise produces feature-quality animation. The social didn't show it, and what was posted was scattered across platforms that each want different things.

The Approach

Three posts a week across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and LinkedIn. Behind-the-scenes studio footage, process breakdowns of specific productions, and team spotlights — aimed at both animators looking for work and commercial clients looking for a studio.

Sunrise Animation Studios is a 3D CG animation studio in Cape Town. Phil and Jacqui Cunningham founded it in Zimbabwe in 1998, where they made The Legend of the Sky Kingdom, Africa’s first animated feature film, shot in a stop-frame “junkmation” style with characters built from everyday junk. The studio later moved to Cape Town and switched to 3D CG. In 2003 they launched Jungle Beat, a dialogue-free series following Munki the monkey and Trunk the elephant that has since aired in over 180 countries and pulled more than seven billion views on YouTube. Today the team is over 100 artists working from Cape Town and remotely worldwide. Their most recent feature, David, opened at number two at the US box office in December 2025.
